The Nationwide State House of Assembly PDP Primaries have been held successfully in Mopamuro LGA of Kogi State, with Hon Eric Fiki, a one time member of the Kogi State House of Assembly between 1999 to 2003 emerging the party’s candidate for the 2015 general election.
Hon Fiki pulled a total of 61 of the accredited votes, to emerge victorious.
Declaring Hon Fiki winner in the poll, Engr. Kunle Salihu, the PDP returning officer, commended the orderly conduct of the delegates, describing it as impressive.
In a remarks, Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi described the poll as eminently free and fair.
Awoniyi commended the processes put in place by the party, independent national electoral commissioner and security agencies for making the delegate election peaceful.
Awoniyi explained that the unanimous support given to Hon Fiki by the delegates, is a measure of how they want him to be their flag bearer, said though a lot of work needs to be done in the next year’s general election, he maintained that victory is achievable and do able for the party.
The Deputy Governor, urged the candidate to reach out to other members of the party who may feel aggrieved, said the success of the party in the forth coming election is the collective responsibility of all party members.
Awoniyi commended Capt Idris Wada for making the party the party to beat, urged the people of Mopamuro to remain supportive of the PDP as it remains a viable platform for the growth and development of the state.
In his response, Hon Eric Fiki, said his victory is a victory for all members of the party, urged them to join hands with him to win convincingly in the next year’s general election.
Hon Fiki commended the people of Mopamuro for their show of love and for the confidence they reposed on him, assuring that he will strive to legislate on issues that will move the area forward socio economically.
Hon Fiki said his desires to represent the people is borne out of the need to provide a veritable legislative platform that will afford Capt Wada to meet the yearning and aspiration of the people of the state, promised not to let the people down in providing purposeful legislation.
