The National Chairman of Network for Change and Good Governance (NCGG), Comrade Ismaila Yusuf Atumeyi, has described governorship aspirant of Peoles Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho has a weak politician with well known penchant for ‘mago-mago’ politics.
Reacting to the postponement of PDP Kogi governorship primaries, allegedly as a result of monetary influence on the party’s NWC by Echocho and his backers, Atumeyi asserted that the action is a sign of obvious weakness of the political strength of Echocho and his inability to win elections in a free and fair contest.
According to him, “while Echocho’s few supporters, including deflated Smart Adeyemi, had arrived Lokoja for tomorrow’s primaries and waiting to accept their fate, Echocho went wild as usual shouting that the governor was planning to disrupt the scheduled primaries. A former power-shift agitator who betrayed his people for lucre, Fehinti Dada, told a newspaper today that there were plans to harm their supporters”
“Let me state clearly that Echocho is not a grounded politician. The PDP organised ward and state congresses, Echocho stayed back in Abuja. PDP organised delegate election, this character stayed back in Abuja. His reason is simple, he hope to get his way through mago-mago politics. January 2011 PDP primaries that purportedly prodded Echocho as flagbearer was actually won by Alhaji Isa Kutepa but mago-mago politics gave it to Echocho. Today, Echocho has shown that he is an unrepentant electoral crook”
“We are fully aware that Abuja-based moneybags like Jide Omokore, Smart Adeyemi and Ibrahim Idris are the ones bankrolling this mago-mago shenanigan at the National Secretariat of PDP. These are politicians that have been wholly rejected by Kogi people. Kogi people are united against these charlatans”
“God and Kogi people are well pleased with incumbent Governor Idris Wada and insha Allah, he will overcome these spent forces”
Atumeyi warned the leadership of PDP to renege on its stand to postpone the primaries to forestall crisis.
