Kogi PDP Leaders Commend Senator Ogembe’s Purposeful Leadership

Leaders of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi Central senatorial district on Friday took turn to praise the senator representing them, Ahmed Ogembe, for his quality and purposeful representation of the zone at the upper chamber of the national assembly.
The leaders of the party who were in the national assembly on the invitation of the distinguished Senator, urged him not to relent on his good work and leadership style.
In his opening remark, the Senator said he invited the leaders to brief them on the happenings in the upper chamber, as it concerned the zone so they could be informed and make their input where necessary.
The senator said that he needed to brief them on his position on Ajaokuta steel company after consulting with relevant stakeholders.
He disclosed that he went as far as consulting a London based expert so he could get enough information on the true state of the company.
“I had to take my time to study the concession agreement made by the federal government on NIOMCO, including consulting with various stakeholders and a London based expert before addressing the public.
“There has been pressure on me to speak on this matter, but I could not speak on critical issue as such without due consultation and input of leaders and stakeholders from my senatorial district,” Ogembe said.
The senator, therefore, gave out copies of the concession agreement, urging them to set up a committee to look at it and come up with a memo so he could combine with his own findings and take a common stand.
On the power outage in Kogi central, the senator said he has been talking with the  DISCO’s and appealing to them to ensure power is restored, noting that another meeting has been schedule to hold soon.
Speaking on other areas, Ogembe said though he was not part of the budgeting process, but he had done everything within his capacity to ensure that Kogi Central was not left out in the scheme of things.
“There are proposed construction of boreholes and transformers in our district, complete the civic centre I started when I was council’s chairman, and funds has also been earmarked for women and youths empowerment.
“In addition, I have been able to also secure federal appointments for some of the youths in our constituency,” the senator said.
In his remark, former deputy governor of Kogi, Chief Patrick Adaba, commended the senator on his laudable achievements, urging him to keep on the good work.
Other Leaders at the meeting took turn to commend the senator for organising such a meeting which they noted to be the first of its kind.
It was resolved at the meeting that the leaders will form a committee that would study the report and revert back to the senator in the next few days.
The security situation in the state was also part of the subjects of discussion at the meeting.
Hon. Tijani Damisa, member, who is the House of Representatives member representing Okene and Ogori /Magongo federal constituency, commended Senator Ahmed Ogembe for his leadership directions that will bring the desired peace and development to central senatorial district.
He pledged to always cooperate with the senator to see that the interest of his people are not shortchange.

Ogunmola, Hon. Godwin Osiyi, Assembly member representing Ogori /Magongo, Hon. M.K. Ibrahim, Alhaji Sule Engineer, Ambassador Usman Bello, Hon. Adinoyi Aroke, Hon. Momoh Steven Aziz, Hon. Jonjo,  all the PDP local government Chairmen from Central senatorial district and a host of others.
