A candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) State Publicity Secretary position, Omachi Isaac Achor, has announced his withdrawal from the race, citing pervasive injustice and undemocratic practices within the party.

Achor, in a statement on Saturday, expressed his disappointment and frustration with the party’s leadership, accusing them of hijacking the PDP for personal interests and businesses.

He also lamented the lack of transparency in the congress process and the silencing of young voices.

“Despite being in opposition, the PDP has failed to learn from its past mistakes and has continued to repeat them. The elders of the party have hijacked the PDP, turning it into an avenue for their personal interests and businesses. The congress process lacks transparency, and the voices of young people are silenced.

“As a young person who contested for a position, I can attest that the party has no room for youth participation. It’s disheartening to see that the party doesn’t believe in empowering young people, despite their potential and enthusiasm.

“I refuse to be part of a process that disenfranchises young people and perpetuates injustice. I call on fellow young party members to join me in boycotting the congress and demanding a more inclusive and transparent party.

“I demand justice and transparency in the PDP. I demand a party that believes in young people. Anything less is unacceptable,” he said.

Omachi insisted that they need a PDP that values youth participation, transparency, and accountability, adding that anything less is unacceptable.

He said the party must reform and learn to trust and empower young people, or risk losing relevance and credibility.
