The first runner up in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary election, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim has filed a suit at the Lokoja High Court challenging the outcome of the shadow polls.
The Chairman of the governorship primary election committee and Governor of Adamawa state, Alhaji Ahmadu Fintiri declared Musa Wada winner of the primary election having polled 748 votes to beat 12 other aspirants.
Fintiri said that 2,388 delegates were accredited for the election while 2,109 votes were cast. He also said that 54 voided votes were recorded, with 244 unused ballots, while 247 ballot papers could not be accounted for.
Ibrahim, who came second, said that the winner defeated him with 38 votes, which, he said, was not up to the missing 247 ballot papers.
Not satisfied with the Appeal Committee reports, Ibrahim has filed a suit seeking the nullification of the PDP governorship primaries and asking the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to stop the recognition of Engr Musa Wada as the party’s flag bearer.
Abubakar Ibrahim was at the Lokoja High Court to sign the necessary papers, says he is the rightful owner of the PDP governorship mandate.
Accompanied by Otaru Roland Otaru, SAN, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim, who was physically present in the court premises in Lokoja on Monday, insisted that he won the 3rd September, 2019 PDP governorship primaries.
He is seeking the court to help return his mandate. A date is yet to be fixed for mention and commencement of the matter.
