It has been celebrations galore in Odo-Ape and Aiyegunle-Ighun communities in Kogi State, on Wednesday, as they were connected to national electricity grid after several years in darkness.
Speaking with this reporter, the Obaro of Odo-Ape, HRH Oba Elijah Meseko said today would never be forgotten in the history of the community.
“We give glory to God for this day. We also thank our son, Hon Duro Meseko who started the project as constituency project in 2003 but owing to lack of funding by successive administrations, the project was abandoned. However, the same Hon Duro Meseko appealed Hon James Abiodun Faleke on the project and he picked it up as one of his constituency projects and today, there is light.
“We are so grateful to Hon Faleke. We appreciate every stakeholder who had one way or the other contributed to the success of the electrification project.
“We also appreciate Sen Dino Melaye who also brought a transformer, some poles and wire some years back. We appreciate everybody. To God be the glory,” he said.
In his words, Hon Duro Meseko said it had always been his dream to see his community lighted and that he was now grateful the dream has come to fruition.
He vowed to use his political connections to further attract social and infrastructural amenities not only to his community but other communities.
