Kogi state chairman of Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP), Engr. Clement Otaru Ohida, has bagged “Promoter of Rest of Retirees Award” from Nigeria Post Newspaper and Margaret Ekpo biographical Center.
The Publisher of the tabloid and the organiser of the event, Comrade Mike Abu, in his presentation before giving out the award explained that Engr. Clement Otaru Ohida and other that were recognized for the awards passed the integrity test.
He opined that the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners has demonstrated leadership capacity by influencing government direction to meet the challenges senior citizens face after their retirement from service, hence his recognition for the award and wake up call for him not to relent in his good work.
In his official reaction to the award, Engr Ohida , who was represented by the State’s Vice chairman of the Union, Chief Shata Adoga, asserted that the recognition coming from the critical group like the media and notable Organization like Margaret Ekpo biographical Center will not be taken for granted.
The highly elated Ohida, said that his recognition for the award is litmus test will propelled him in the period a head to pursue causes that will smile to the faces of the Senior citizens through pragmatic approach in leadership.
Kogi state chairman of Nigeria Union of Pensioners used the avenue to the state governor, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo for his administration’s frantic step taken so far to address some of the members outlined problems including the inclusion of retirees in the state health insurance coverage ,and the additional ten thousand naira to members.

“As Oliver twice we will continue to ask for more from the state government in the areas of full settlement of retirees gratuities as the paid money as left members in abject poverty,” Ohida reiterated.
