  • Appeals to Kogi Gov to Restore Director of Personnel Management Office in LGs

The Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Kogi state chapter, has called on the local government service commission to kick-start 2018, 2019 and 2020 promotion interview for workers.

In a communiqué issued at the end of the state executive council meeting of NULGE in Lokoja on Tuesday, the union tasked the service commission to ensure payment of in-service training funds which has been stalled for a long time.

The communiqué which was jointly signed by the State President of NULGE, Comrade Tade Adeyemi and Secretary, Comrade Bridget Ayendi, the union expressed its gratitude to the State Government for another pardon list that is about to be released, stressing that this further confirmed that Governor Yahaya Bello has continued to listen to the yearnings of local government workers in Kogi state.

NULGE appealed to Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello to restore the office of the Director of Personnel Management (DPM) in the local government administration.

The Union described the office of the Director of Personnel Management as the engine room of the local government system.

While eulogizing the state government for constituting local government service commission, the union leaders said the development will impact meaningfully on local government staff across the state.

NULGE, however, expressed displeasure over persistent garnishing order on local government account, particularly, Adavi LGA, where workers are yet to receive their January 2020 salary.

On the issue of salary, the council resolved that the ministry of local government should pay at least a bench mark of 50 percent salary at that level.

The union also resolved that the account of the Local Government should be fully returned to them so as to allow the union at that level to have proper negotiation of their salaries.

While emphasizing that dialogue remains a panacea to industrial development, the State Executive Council of NULGE however called on the government to address the issues highlighted in its communiqué to sustain the industrial peace and harmony between the workers and government.

The State Executive Council of NULGE congratulated Governor Yahaya Bello on his electoral victory at the Supreme Court.
