The warning strike to be embark upon by the Kogi State branch of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has been described as political and not in the interest of the State workers.
Reacting to the ongoing feud between the state government and the NLC in the state, a stalwart of All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state, Mallam Abdulmalik Suleiman accused the labour leaders of politicising the issue of salary and other related matters which the state government is sincerely handling in the best interest of the state workers.
According to him, the labour leaders are neck deep into politics of the state rather than genuinely fighting for the interest of the workers.
He said the present government inherited myriad of problems from the last government which included inflated workers salaries, infrastructural decay and many others.
Abdulmalik appealed to the labour leaders to shelve aside the plan strike and embrace dialogue with the government, saying the state governor Alh Yahaya Bello mean well for the state and needed full cooperation of workers.
He added “let us give him time to sort out the rots and find everlasting solution to the problems, Things will soon take shape in the state, Gov Bello is also pained by the conditions of the workers and he’s working day and night to solve it. Presently some workers have started receiving alerts, so the strike is on called for” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff to the governor Hon Edward Onoja has called for calm, saying the government is on top of the issues and that workers welfare is one of the top priority of the present administration.
