The Chairman of the Kogi State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB), Bldr Modupe Obafemi has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led administration for giving prompt attention to the request of the institute on the establishment for enhanced entry point for graduate builders in the public service.
Bldr. Modupe made this commendation in Lokoja on Tuesday while receiving the delegation from the Federal Head of Service in Kogi State for 2-Day interactive section (Administrative and Technical).
Modupe also lauded the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo for creating enabling environment for the exercise.
She also thanked the Kogi State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development Hon. Abanika Taiye and the Head of Service Mr. Elijah Ozovehe for facilitating the programme. In a similar remark, she expressed overwhelming gratitude to the President of the Nigerian Institute of Building, Bldr Alderton Ewa and his entire Management team for their unwavering support in ensuring smooth transition of the process.
Recall that on October 9th 2023, the Nigerian Institute of Building in a memo to the Federal Head of Service through the Honourable Minister for Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development requested for an enhanced entry point for graduate on Builders in the public service.
The memo further specified that if courses in Building Profession such as Building, Architecture, Quantity Survey took same O. Level subject for UMTE (JAMB) with other Engineering Professions and same five years required in the University, the entry point level of Grade Level 09 should be applicable to all.
Responding to the memo, the Federal Government under the Leadership of President Ahmed Bola Tinubu has commenced necessary steps that could resolve the complaint.
In a statement according to the Team Leader for the Exercise, Mr. Igoche Audu simon from the office of the Federal Head of Service, he noted that their purpose for coming was to assess the building professionals in Kogi State for the justification of their demand.
Speaking also, a fellow of the Institute, Bldr Akagwu Samuel Edicha commended the Team for proactiveness adding that when professionalism is rightly rewarded quality output would be inevitable.
The immediate past chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Building Kogi State chapter, who also doubles as the current Head of Department of Building Technology at the Federal Polytechnic Idah, and a Fellow of the Institute, Bldr Esan Olusegun expressed optimism that the Federal Government would harmonize all the differences for better entry placement.
The Head of the Building Department Kogi State Ministry of Housing and Urban Development Bldr Rafiya Salau in a closing remark thanked the Federal Government, Federal Head of Service, Kogi State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development and the Permanent Secretary Establishment The Permanent secretary Establishment, Mrs Oloruntoba l. Elizabeth and the Director Mrs Onoja Ann for their commitment to the exercise.
