The Kogi State chapter of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) yesterday condemned the Christmas bombings that claimed several lives across the country.

The body stated strongly that the Nigerian constitution guaranties freedom of worship in the country, saying that bombing of churches when worships have converged in whatever name is uncalled for and should be condemned by every Nigerian.

The Kogi NBA chairman, Muhammed Tanko Musa, said, “those killed at Monday bombing as well as those that had died since Boko Haram issue came up are innocent citizens, and there is no religion that accepts the taking of innocent lives. The bombing is crime against humanity and should be condemned”.

He said though Boko Haram islamic sect has claimed responsibility for it but the government should look beyond that while saying that it might be a ploy to divert attention from getting to know who are actually behind them.

He stressed that the situation has gone beyond mounting road blocks, police and SSS investigation, advising that modern security gadgets that can detect weapons used by the Boko haram sect should be provided so that they can be checkmated before carrying out their nefarious activity.
