Kogi National Housing Project Ready for Occupation – Zonal Director

The Federal Government says the completed National Housing Programme (NHP) in Lokoja, is ready for occupation.

Mr Valentine Nwaimo, NHP Zonal Director, North-Central, Ministry of Power, Works, and Housing, disclosed this in Lokoja on Tuesday.

He spoke while assessing the project site located at Crusher community, Lokoja during a media tour.

“We have 76 units in the site, only one unit is left for finishing touches.

“The road and electricity projects are already completed, before the end of March, this project will be 100 per cent completed.’’

Nwaimo said the housing project which was the first phase would be accessed by all Nigerians, adding that government initiated the NHP to close the housing deficit.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that the ministry in 2018 inaugurated a committee to work on the modalities of occupying the houses nationwide.

Mrs Hajara Enesi, Team Leader, NHP, Lokoja, said that the construction was 99 per cent completed, adding that 5,000 skilled and unskilled indigenous youths were employed in the site.

“Each site is finished with grade A roads, street lights and water reticulation.

“What has been done so far is only phase one, the second phase is to commence immediately after the inauguration of the first one.’’

While commending the Federal Government for delivering its promises in terms of housing deficit, he also commended the state government for making land available for the project.

A contractor, Mr Ahmed Tijani, who spoke, said that all materials including granite, asphalt used to attain 98 per cent completion of the site roads, were locally sourced in Kogi.

NAN reports that the ministry officials earlier visited the NHP site for FCT located at Gwagwalada, which is 70 per cent completed.
