In 2003, Ayatu Suleiman a friend and school mate came back from town (Idah) and said to me “Jiddah hmm they said Ibro has won oooo” for few minutes I could not talk, I shed tears, I could not eat that night, I had terrible dreams. In the morning, I refused to listen to the radio, I must not hear that announcement. Painfully it came and gone, for the nine years Ibrahim was Governor I refused to attend any gathering that will make me see him. But come to think of it, it seems that government is now more popular than what we now have. We can not live in retrogression; at least not forever.
Let me disabuse your mind. I don’t hate Ibro, in fact I am close to his family somehow.
Again until 2015 I have never met my Hero Prince Abubakar Audu face to face.
I was only afraid that the way the change in govt came it was going to usher in bad omen; 15 years after i think I was right.
The irony of it is that I now live in Gombe. Atiku Abubakar who allegedly orchestrated who become Governor in Kogi did same in Gombe. While Gombe used this to stand up and be counted, Kogi state that was No.1 on the table stood up and went to sleep. She is still sleeping, she is snoring some even think she is dying.
Two days ago, I met my friend Prince Sani Ogu Salisu the Kogi state Commissioner for youths; here in Gombe. While we share warmth hand shakes, smiles and hugs I quickly asked him to influence Governor Yahaya Bello to visit Gombe.
Kogi was created five years before Gombe state. Their allocation is not more than ours, our populations difference is negligible, our working population is in deficit when compared, we have more fertile land but they produce more food. When we look at all these, government must do a clear comparative analysis to see what is wrong with us.
Enugu produces few tones of cashew yet they have install a processing plant; what is holding us back, why are we forcing a rice mill; where are the rice farmers?
I know the people are confused now, we don’t know why we are here, we don’t know who brought us here but surely we know we need to go out of here. That’s is the leadership responsibility.
Prayers:
1. I call on all Kogites to pray for Audu, may the soul of our leader rest in peace.
2. I call on the former governors alive; Ibrahim Idris,  Idris Wada and Governor Yahaya Bello to sit on a round table; at least there is need for discussion and questions like what have we done and what are we doing now. The fight is enough, the people are tired, what we cry for is development, what we want is peace. If you support Bello in this trying times you are supporting Kogi state, if you plot his down fall now we are going down all of us.
3. I call on the greatest office, the office of the citizens to act wise, register, collect your PVC and vote not fight. In 2019, be a Kogite, Kogi first, vote the human being not the party, vote character and reputation, don’t sell your vote to APC PDP and others in the next election make sure we win; buy voting rightly. Don’t Vote Igala, Yoruba or Igbira, don’t vote a Muslim or a Christian, vote for a candidate for the love of our state. We have had enough
Election or no election should not take away our patriotism, Kogi is in a mess, this is the painful reality.
That tears of mine is still rolling, I call on our leaders develop Kogi state and help me smile again.
