Kogi Mineral Resources Chairman Visits New Minister, Seeks Collaboration

In a bid to broaden the scope of the solid minerals sector and ensure economic growth and development of Kogi State, the Executive Chairman of Kogi State Mineral Resources Development Agency, Hajiya Hassiat Ozavize Suleiman has facilitated talks to expand the sector within the state to ensure utmost exploration of Kogi’s mineral resources.

The Executive Chairman paid a courtesy call to the new Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Dele Alake in a meeting which included the Executive Chairman of Zuma Group of Companies, Chief Innocent Ezuma.

She emphasised the need for more State involvement in the sector with a view to ensuring global best mining practices, community development, and social responsibility.

Hajiya Suleiman stated that Kogi State was wide open for investment opportunities in the sector including oil and gas, this also served as part of the deliberations with further meetings being held with details to follow as they unfold.

The Chairman who doubles as the Chairman of the State Mineral Resources Development Agency (MIREMCO) Kogi chapter, also highlighted the steps her committee has taken to ensure lasting cordial relations between mining companies and their host communities through mediation and conflict resolution.

Hajiya Suleiman expressed eagerness to work with the newly appointed Minister and tabled the challenges the committee faces nationwide, She urged the Minister and the Ministry to look into these issues to ensure that the committee carries out its set duties effectively.

In another related development, the Executive Chairman also held meetings with intending investors from China interested in the burgeoning Lithium industry in Kogi State. Hajiya Suleiman expressed elation at the potentials therein, stating that Kogi State under the Governor Yahaya Bello led administration has created an enabling environment for mutually beneficial partnerships.
