Kogi: Min. of Women Affairs and Social Development to Partner with NDLEA

Kogi State commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Josephine Amupitan has assured total commitment of the Ministry’s participation towards this year’s commemoration of the international drug abuse day.
She disclosed this during a courtesy visit by a team from the National Drug Law Enforcement agency (NDLEA), which was led by the State Commander, Idris Bello
Recently in her office in Lokoja, with the intention to partner with her ministry and discuss this year’s drug free day celebration titled “Listen First.”
Hon Amupitan during her remark, emphasized that the well-being of women and youths will not be taken for granted, adding that the present administration remains committed to support persons who are drugs dependents to overcome the challenges.
She further identified poverty, marital problems, lack of parental care, as some of the causes of drug abuse, stressing that all hands must be on deck to ensure the State rehabilitation center functions as soon as possible to managed individuals who are into the substance
While assuring them of Her Excellency’s Mrs. Rashida Bello support, she disclosed that there is also an initiative of the Northern Governor’s Wives Forum(NGWF), to tackle the menace of drug abuse among the youths which Mrs Rashida Bello is part of and will be willing to participate in this year’s celebration.
