With the thickening plot within the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) circle in Yagba East local government area of Kogi State to ensure the Liaison Officer 1, Hon. Shola Adebola a.k.a Gaddafi do not win the local government election slated for May 4, 2013, a former Vice Chairman of the council, Chief J.S. Adeyemi is positioned to take over.
A close party source disclosed to Kogireports.com that Gaddafi and his backers cannot mobilise more than three delegates during the party primaries that will come up around 15th and 24th March, 2013 based on the timetable released by Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC).
Gaddafi, apart from dissent coming on the heels of the unpopular screening exercise, is facing stiff opposition from well-grounded party leaders in the local government.
Aggrieved and disappointed party leaders may have settled for a humble and elderly Chief Adeyemi.
Chief Adeyemi, a pioneer member of PDP in Yagba East LG is seen a tested and trusted hand who can be relied upon. Adeyemi was Vice Chairman of the LG under the immediate past administration of Kayode Obaro.
Chief Adeyemi reportedly earned the respect and trust of the people for standing against unpopular policies and actions of the then Chairman, Mr Obaro. Attempts were made five times to impeach him but he survived it all.
Adeyemi worked as a teacher under Kwara State Schools Management Board for several years and retired as Headmaster, Class Two in 1980. He was appointed Supervisor Works and later Supervisor Health in Yagba East LGA.
He promises to address the daily and immediate needs of the poor and create sustainable wealth for welfare and happiness of the present and future generation of Yagba East.
Adeyemi also pledged to provide comfortable staff welfare packages for all the staff.
“Payment of salaries and allowance would be given priority while promotions and its implementations would be accorded it place of pride. When staff salaries and allowances are paid promptly, if possible first, you have a happy staff on your hands”
