The national leadership of All Progressive Congress (APC) Youth Frontiers has condemned the recent mass sack witnessed across the 21 local governments in Kogi State describing the action as callous and insensitive.
The National Coordinator the youth group, Comrade U. Okai Austin Francis, made passed the damning verdict in a recent chat with Kogireports.com
He said the misguided sack of teachers and council workers by local government chairmen is the direct result of political leaders emerging against the wishes of the electorates. “The election that brought in these chairmen was fraught with irregularities. They were rigged in as against the wishes and desires of the good people of Kogi State. Leaders that are duly elected by the people will not behave the way these council chairmen are behaving”, he said.
“These rascals sacked workers who have valid appointment letters and have been working for years. Now, they want to refer to them as ghost workers. Who is a ghost worker? Do you see a ghost? Do ghosts cry out when afflicted? The affected civil servants are people we know, they are working around us in our towns and villages”
“The real ghost workers still have their names on the local government payment vouchers. These names were injected by politicians and strategic officials. Officials of the local government councils like cashier, treasurer, financial director and accountant have formed a cabal in the councils. They collude with banks to defraud the LGs”
Comrade Austin challenged the 21 LG chairmen to mention a single capital project they have embarked upon since assumption of office. “They are not embarking on any meaningful project but pre-occupied with hoarding looted funds as most of them are reportedly eyeing House of Assembly and House of Representatives seats in 2015”, he alleged.
The unfortunate scenario in our local government councils should serve as a lesson for the good people of Kogi State. They must make up their minds to resist Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) come 2015. Our destinies are under threat with the reign of PDP and we must be ready to kick-out PDP and all it represent in 2015.
