…calls for assistance and support for displaced persons.
A House of Representatives aspirant from Dekina-Bassa Federal Constituency, Hon. Sanni Idakwo Philips has condemned the deadly attacks on communities in Kogi East senatorial district.
In a press release made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Saturday, Sanni Idakwo Philips called on government at all levels to come up with concrete security measures to forestall further attacks.
He called well meaning sons and daughters of Dekina and Bassa local governments to come to the aid of the displaced persons.
“It is with a heavy heart that I write to condemn the barbaric act exhibited by suspected herdsmen in Ogane-nigu and Ojuwo-Ajomaigbi in Dekina and Bassa Local Governments respectively. My heart goes out to the bereaved and all those who have lost properties. May the almighty God give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
“While I share in the pains and anguish of our people, it is important to state that this is not the time to play politics with the dead; it is also not the time for blame game, senseless criticism of government or for Fear and Grief; as it will not help the situation.
“It is a time for all of us to arise and take drastic measures to securing our communities. It is also the time for vigilance and community service.
“Moving forward, I hope to see concrete measures taken by the state government to forestall further attacks on our innocent people. Residents of Oganenigu, Ojuwo-Ajomaigbi and other affected communities should cooperate with the security agencies as well as government at both the local and state levels.
“Permit me to use this opportunity to call on well meaning sons and daughters from Dekina and Bassa to come to the aid of the displaced persons. My Prayer is that this would not happen again,” he said.
