The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, Kogi State Branch, has announced an indefinite strike starting Monday, November 17, 2025, over unmet demands.
The announcement is contained in a bulletin titled: “Government Insensitivity To Our Demands, The Resolution Of The Union,” and signed by Chairman and Secretary of the Branch Union, Comrades Emmanuel N. Waniko and Sule Suberu respectively.
The demands according to the bulletin include October 2024 arrears of the new minimum wage of N72,500, 2025 Leave Bonus, and promotions which they said were last enjoyed in 2020.
The union expressed frustration with the government’s lack of response to their demands, despite several letters and engagements.
“The Union is tired of conveying promises to our esteem members without fulfillment and we can no longer wait endlessly without any result,” the bulletin stated.
According to the bulletin, the union has resolved that all members should proceed on strike, refrain from carrying out official duties, and remain peaceful and law-abiding.
The bulletin read in part:
“Fellow Comrades, in view of the above, the Union has resolved as follows: That as from Monday, 17th November 2025, all our members i.e all the staff of Kogi State Judiciary should proceed on an indefinite strike until our demands are met.
“That no staff or our members should carryout official duty or function during that period.
“That members are expected to be peaceful and law abiding as we fight for our legitimate right.
“That the Union shall continue to engage Government and other relevant stakeholders on all our demands.”
