Women Leader of Advanced Peoples Democratic Party (APDA) Kogi State chapter, Mrs Mary Umoru has bemoaned the obvious lack of progress in the state.
Umoru, a former chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC), made this known during a meeting with aspirants contesting under the platform of APDA in Lokoja on Saturday.
According to her, APDA has grown beyond expectations and is poised to win elections in 2019.
She expressed confidence that the party will take over Lugard House by winning the next Kogi governorship poll.
“I joined politics in 1979, in 1981 I followed my late sister to NPN. In 2014, my leader, Senator Mohammed Salami Ohiare took us to APC and we successfully built a formidable structure that won elections in Kogi Central. I was once of the major women mobilizers in the party.
“APC ran into troubled waters in 2016 when the people in power shut out our leaders. The situation was aggravated by poor governance that has caused much pains to the people of the state, salaries and pensions are not paid and no tangible project has been embarked upon. I became dissatisfied with the situation in the party and had to defect to APDA.
“Kogi state is not making progress. The founding fathers are not proud of where we are today. The people of the state are disenchanted with progress made so far. In all honesty, we are not happy with the state of things in Kogi state but this will will soon change as APDA is fully prepared to turn the tides.
“APDA is a united party of progressives and I can assure you that many will come and join us from APC and PDP. As soon as APDA take over Kogi government, we will prioritize payment of workers salary, students from primary to tertiary institutions in the state will experience a new lease of life and pensioners will have cause to smile,” he said.
She urges politicians who are current confused on which party to join and work for to team up with APDA to rescue Kogi State.
