The Inspector General of police, Baba Alkali, has charged newly decorated officers to justify their promotion by ensuring the security threats were curtailed in their areas of operations.

He gave the charge on Monday in Lokoja, during the decoration ceremony of seven senior officers promoted to their next ranks.

The IGP, represented by the AIG Zone 8, Ede Ayuba, supported by the Commissioner of Police, Edward Egbuka, challenged the officers to justify the confidence repose in them that caused the promotion to bring down crime and criminality in the jurisdiction.

He noted that the Police as an institution are key to internal security of the nation hence their call to duty is a sacrifice to render service to the fatherland.

He told the officers to see their promotions as encouragement for others to emulate them by giving their best in the fight against insecurity.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi state council, Alhaji Adeiza Momohjimoh, has congratulated the Police Public Relations Officer, William Aya, who was promoted from Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) to Superintendent of Police, for his cooperation and timely release of relevant information to journalists.
