In line with the core thematic agenda of Governor Yahaya Bello on health, the Kogi State Health Insurance Agency has taken off with its office located by Defayo Hotel, along Kasuwa guest inn road, Lokoja.
A press statement by the Executive Secretary of the agency, Dr. Adekunle Aledare indicated that the Commissioner of Health, Dr Haruna Saka catalysed the passing into law of the bill on the establishment of the agency.
Dr. Aledare said the bill establishing the agency was passed into law by the Atate House of Assembly on November 14, 2018.
He added that the bill was signed into law by Governor Bello on April 24, 2019.
The Executive Secretary said the take off of the agency will involve a health care insurance programme in which individuals or group of persons will be making contributions towards their health care cost for defined health benefit packages.
He thanked Governor Bello for giving him the opportunity to serve as the pioneering Executive secretary of the agency.
