The National Chairman of Network for Change and Good Governance (NCGG), Comrade Ismaila Yusuf Atumeyi, has called on Kogi State Chief Justice Nasir Ajanah to swear in the Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly when the current tenure of incumbent Governor Idris Wada expires on 27th January, 2016.
Atumeyi made this call in a chat with newsmen in Lokoja on Satuday.
According to him, “the NCGG have consulted widely and have come to a conclusion that at the moment Kogi State does not have a governor-elect from the last rounds of governorship election. Yahaya Bello will not be sworn-in on January 27th because he has no deputy governor. This is alien to our electoral act and constitution”
“It has never happened before in our country Nigeria where a governor will be sworn-in without a deputy. ‘Hungry’ leaders like Dino Melaye and Olafemi Clarence are prodding the political neophyte on against the laws of the land. Bello’s acolytes should enlighten him rather than lead the young man astray. James Faleke, the so-called Deputy Governor has petitioned the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) challenging the legality of Yahaya Bello’s candidature with hard facts showing that Yahaya Bello contested the supplementary elections without a running mate”
“INEC, based on the dictates of our laws and common sense erred by declare Bello winner after the supplementary elections. INEC is causing Kogi State national embarrassment! Inauguration of Supplementary Governor-Elect Yahaya Bello is an invitation to anarchy”
The NCGG boss called on President Muhammadu Buhari to quickly dissociate himself from the illegality going on in Kogi State and enforce the rule of law to avoid anarchy.
“Buhari must remember that Nigerians from all ethnic and religious divide call him Baba Mai Gaskiya and he owes Nigerians a debt of honour to live by that”, he said.
“The actors of illegality in Kogi State brag about that Buhari is behind their actions and inactions. This will surely tarnish Baba Buhari’s good name very soon”
Atumeyi counseled members of Kogi State House of Assembly to sheath their swords and put their house in order ahead of the impending swearing -in of the House Speaker.
He called on Kogi youth to remain calm but warned leaders to step up their acts as youths will not tolerate ‘political nonsense’ from any leader.
