The race for who occupy Lugard House the official residence of Kogi State governor for the next four (4) years has began with over thirty (30) aspirants from different political parties already signified interest to contest. Top among them is Comrade Prince Rotimi Yakubu Obadofin a devoted and pragmatic leader who hails from Aiyegunle Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of the state.
It was a good news for the people of Kogi State Saturday 4th July, 2015 as Prince Obadofin kick start ward to ward and local government by local government tour of meeting party executives and stakeholders of his party the All Progressive Congress (APC) in a move to canvass their support ahead the party governorship primaries. Although it was programmed to be a meeting of just party executives and stakeholders, it turns out to be more of a carnival as supporters who majorly comprises the masses all turned out massively in Mopa-Amuro, Yagba East and Yagba West local government areas to welcome Comr. Prince Rotimi Yakubu Obadofin.
The atmosphere at each of the places visited was filled with songs of praises and hope as there has been strong indications all over Kogi State and Nigeria at large before now, that the former Senate President, National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS); a stakeholder at the level of Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and very close ally to top Leaders of All Progressive Congress (APC) across the Nation is the best and most suitable man for the job. He is well articulate and politically vibrant.
However, After wide consultations and approval of top stakeholders in the state, Comr Prince Rotimi Yakubu Obadofin finally registered his interest to liberate the people of Kogi State as he vie for the office of the executive governor of the state. He made this known during the tour at the weekend.
This move was commended by many as it was seen as taking governance to the door step of the grassroots.
These are contained in a statement issued by Comr. Amodu Ibikunle Abubakar, Obadofin’s Special Assistant on Media tagged “the time for liberation is now!
It’s fundamental and very much essential for the good people of Kogi State to enjoy the dividends of democracy! The change has finally come for the masses to have good sense of belonging in governance. There must be a sense of equity, fairness and justice in Kogi state.The progressive people of Kogi State from Central, East and West Senatorial District are solidly in support of Comr. Prince Rotimi Yakubu Obadofin base on his track records” he said.

The executives all through Yagba Federal Constituency comprising Mopamuro, Yagba East and Yagba West local government areas of Kogi State described Prince Obadofin as the most consistent, competent and one who is sound in the theory and practice of good governance. Market men and women; students,farmers and other peer groups came out massively in Solidarity.
