By Yusuf Abubakar.
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain and governorship aspirant, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim has assured the people of Kogi state of his readiness to serve with the fear of God.
Fielding questions from newsmen in Abuja on his arrival from lesser hajj on Sunday, Abubakar said the the need to seek the face of God occasioned his recent trip to the holy land.
He noted that with the level of political manoeuvre and reactions of political gladiators towards his ambition it became imperative to pray for the people and the state with high sense of calmness and dedication.
He stated that though the task ahead looks insurmountable he is ready to weather the storm. Abubakar urged that current political gimmicks, within and outside the PDP, be geared towards salvaging the state from the current social, economic and developmental backwardness.
He debunked reports alleging that his ambition is generating crises within the party, saying the rumour is emanating from people who want to cause disaffection in PDP because of the widespread acceptance of his aspiration.
He promised to abide by the decision of the party during the forthcoming PDP primaries, stating that his resolve to run for the Kogi top job was out of love, care and resolve to restore the state’s lost glory.
Alhaji Abubakar advised party leaders, followers and stakeholders not to cave into plans by the ruling party to divide its resolve to return the state to PDP, saying the state had lost its treasure among the comity of states in the last four years.
He urged them to play the game according to the rules, be law abiding and determined to moblilse the electorates on the need to salvage the state from bad leadership in November.
