Sir,

I write to draw your attention to the injustice and illegality being perpetrated by the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State as it affects the Supreme Court Judgement concerning five States of Kogi, Adamawa, Sokoto, Cross River and Bayelsa.

The Judgement pronounced that the tenure of the Governors of the five states expired since may 28, 2011 and directed that the Speakers of the affected States should be sworn in as Acting Governors.

Subsequently the Federal Government in a statement signd by the Minster of Justice Muhammed Bello Adoke (SAN) further directed that the Speakers in the affected States should be sworn in as Acting Governors in line with section 191(2) of the 1999 constitution as amended, pending the time the Independent National Electoral Commission will conduct Election in to the vacant offices.

But as I write this letter, The Acting Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Rt Hon Abdullahi Bello who was duly sworn in by the Kogi State Chief Judge Justice Nasiru Ajanah, have been hindered from performing his duties as the Acting Governor of the State. This is due to a purported order by the Vice President to the Nigeria Police Force to withdraw all the Security attached to the Acting Governor. The purported order also directed the Police to disallow the Acting Governor entry in to the Government House.

Presently Capt Wada Idris who was not mentioned in the Supreme Court judgement is the one illegally occupying the Government House.

Sir this is a civilian coup de tat and an invitation to anarchy.

Sir, I urge you to call on the Police Authority to immediately restore the Security of the Acting Governor so that he can continue to perform his duty accordingly. If the Vice President did not agree with the decision of the Supreme Court, he can go to court for further interpretation and avoid creating an unnecessary crises in Kogi State.

Sir, I am sure you have not been properly briefed about the situation in Kogi State.

I am sure that, as an advocate of rule of law and a victim of oppression in the hands of those who believe they are above the laws as spelt out in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, you will allow the law to take its course.

Long Live Mr President,
Long Live Kogi State,
Long Live Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A. S. Ochu, Concerned Citizen of Kogi State.
