The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the admonition given to the electorate in Kogi State in relation to the coming governorship election by the Catholic Bishops in the state in their pastoral message during the week as “very timely, cognisant and God-inspired”.

The Governorship Campaign Organization of the party, in a statement signed by Chairman, Public Communications Committee, Chief Shola Adedoyin commended the Catholic Bishops for providing the necessary spiritual guidance for the people at this critical time in the political and socio-economic life of the state.

PDP said the Bishops hit the nail on the head when they described as “unfortunate, the sufferings which the people of the State had been made to pass through as a result of bad governance, especially in recent times”.

The party said that the Bishops have spoken the mind of God and truth to power like the Prophets of the Bible time.

It urged the electorate in Kogi State to heed the advice of the Bishops to see the governorship election, which they put in their own words “as a golden opportunity to elect credible leaders, who would prioritise their welfare”.

The PDP described the Bishops as very fearless in their faith and pastoral roles, and urged other ministers of God in Kogi State to display such forthrightness, spiritual integrity and social responsibility at this auspicious time.

It will be recalled that the Catholic Bishops in Kogi State in a pastoral message to the people of the State jointly signed by Bishop Martins Olorunmolu of Lokoja Diocese and his Idah Diocese counterpart, Bishop Anthony Adaji, advised the electorates in the State to vote wisely and elect credible leaders with the fear of God in order to enjoy good governance.
