Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Kogi state, Mr. Bayo Averehi has said that the party will take over the state in the coming gubernatorial poll.
Averehi made this known while addressing delegates in Lokoja ahead of the party primary.
He urged PDP to adopt the successful template used in Adamawa and Bauchi states during the 2019 general elections.
“The strategy used in Adamawa and Bauchi stated is the best for Kogi. The strategy has been tested and trusted in the last general elections in these states. PDP used candidates from same senatorial district with the then incumbent governors and it worked. This will eliminate ethnic or tribal sentiment among the electorate,” he said.
Averehi, who is from same Kogi Central as Governor Yahaya Bello, noted that the result will be a massive protest vote against the incumbent Governor across the three senatorial zones, resulting from his performance.
“Dear delegates, you stand to benefit in your own government for 4years and beyond if you vote wisely for Bayo Averehi who is the only candidate from the same Senatorial zone with the incumbent Governor.
“Central has only one more term in Government, vote Bayo Averehi to complete the second term of the Central senatorial zone.”
He assured that there are three holistic steps he will deploy to actualize this by making available interest free loans to groups of people in different petty trades and businesses in each local government across the State, which will be supervised by a financial institution.
Secondly, he said he will engage in, and make compulsory mechanized farming in each of the local government areaa, which will run under Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme.
Also, three silos of international standard will be built in each senatorial zone for storage of farm produce.
According to him, peasant farmers will be made to get value for their had work, their products will be purchased and stored at a reasonable value, thereby eliminating the middle men who buys their products for peanut and sell at exorbitant rates in the urban areas.
He said the storage systems will enhance possible exportation of farm produce and also will ensure absolute stabilisation of the salaries and pensions of the Kogi State workers.
