Kogi Govt Will Work With FRSC to Ensure Free Flow of Traffic During Christmas Period

Government says it is going to work with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), towards ensuring a free flow of traffic during the Christmas period.

Arc. Yomi Awoniyi, Kogi State Deputy Governor, made this known at a sensitization seminar organized by Kogi State Command of the FRSC for staff of the Deputy Governor Office.

While noting that traffic build up contributes to road accidents as people most times due to tiredness and over speeding to catch up with time lost while in hold ups, run into accidents, said efforts will be made to ensure that vehicles are not held up during the festive period.

Awoniyi, disclosed that the State Government is mindful of the speed limits and condition of vehicles in its convoy, called on people travelling across the State to drive patiently, as slow and steady driving is more preferable than dangerous driving that kills.

In his lecture tilled causes and prevention of Road Accidents, Assistant Sector Commander, Godwin Aworawo, who stood in for the Sector Commander in the State, Mohammed Garba, described the high volume of traffic on roads passing through Kogi State as a result of its linkage with twenty one states of the Federation.

The Assistant Sector Commander, attributed over speeding, wrong overtaking, bad tyres among reasons for several accidents on the road, called on the people to drive with caution as the Christmas period is a yearly festival which should not cause unnecessary traveling pressures on motorists.
