Workers in the Kogi State Civil Service have been charged to be computer proficient if the want to remain relevant in service to the state.
Yomi Awoniyi, Kogi State Deputy Governor, described the present age of computer advancement and technology as one that calls for computer literacy, urged personnel and administrative officers in state work force to key into the changing times.
Yomi Awoniyi, gave the charge at the commencement of a one week computer free training program organized for Registry Staff, office of the Deputy Governor, by Kenechukwu Blessing, a batch ‘A’ corp member serving in the Deputy Governor’s Office.
The Deputy Governor, who was represented at the opening ceremony by the Permanent Secretary, Administration and Parastatals office of the Deputy Governor, Mr. Abraham Adavi, said Civil Servants who fail to appreciate computer appreciation in their work environment, are still living in the past.
Awoniyi, described the civil service as the engine room of governance, said the service can only remain relevant if it conform to advancement in information technology.
The Deputy Governor, urged the staff to take the training seriously, disclosing that the State Government would continue to provide modern information technology equipments that would ease their work.

Earlier in her remarks, Kenechukwu Blessing said the training on introduction to computer and Microsoft organized for the staff of the office of the Deputy Governor is designed to improve their productivity and to conform with global trend in work environment.
Miss Blessing urged the participants to be patient in the training, disclosing that with determination, understanding the use of computer would be made easier and to make them remain relevant in the work place.
