Kogi State Governor, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo says the state government will go after local government officials found wanting in the alleged diversion of tractors distributed to the 21 LGAs under the immediate past administration.

Kogi Reported had reported that in November 2023 how a local government Chairman auctioned over 20 vehicles, tractors, fans, TV three weeks to expiration of tenure.

But Gov. Ododo during a meeting with farmers was directed the Commissioner of Food and Agriculture, Kogi State Auditor General and the Auditor General for Local Government to probe the alleged diversion with the view of bringing perpetrators to book.

According to him, former Local Government Chairmen, Local Government Secretaries, Directors of Local Governments, Treasurers and Heads of Department found wanting will not be spared.

To walk the talk, the Governor announced the setting up of a Technical Committee to take stock of all the tractors procured and handed over to Local Government Areas in the state.

The Governor said the state government procured farm implements to be be put to use by farmers in the past but the feedback from farmers indicate that more needs to be done for farmers in this regard.

The Governor, therefore, urged the technical committee comprising the Commissioner for Agriculture, the State Auditor-General and the Auditor-General for Local Government to take stock and report the status of all farm equipment particularly mechanised tractors to the government.
