The Kogi Government on Friday, says it has concluded plans to organise a three-day State Workshop for all school managers both in public and private schools operating in the state.
A statement by Mrs Rosemary Osikoya, the state’s Commissioner for Education, Science & Technology, in Lokoja, said the workshop has been scheduled to hold from Jan. 30 to Feb. 1, 2019 in Lokoja the state capital.
Osikoya said that the three-day workshop would be facilitated by Federal Ministeries, Departments, Agencies (MDAs) and other stakeholders.
The commissioner called on all the Chairmen of Boards, Heads of Institutions and Schools in Kogi State Education sector both private and public, and all concerned stakeholders, to take advantage of the proposed workshop.
“The highlight of the workshop include: “Effective Quality Assurance evaluation with emphasis on pedagogy and self evaluation by schools as provided on the National policies, which would be facilitated by the Federal Quality Assurance Dept., Federal Ministry of Education.
“Basic introduction to the curriculums and how to use them among others, to be facilitated by the Nigerian Educational Research and Development Council (NERDC).
“National Productivity Commission (NPC) will facilitate productivity management, coaching and mentoring. School Based Management Committee will also be formally flagged off.
“All Principals and Head Teachers of all schools- both public and private owned, are reminded to forward the list of nominees to the education ministry for approval as earlier communicated,” Osikoya said.
The commissioner added that all the nominations received and made before new deadline will be considered for the ‘State Teachers Appreciation (2018)’.
The commissioner also noted that the closing date for registration of candidates for 2019 WASSCE remained Jan. 31, 2019.
She added: “All Boards of public schools are requested to urgently communicate the summary details of candidates registration to the ministry for necessary further action”.
