Kogi State Government has taken the responsibility to offset all the Medical bills incurred by Mali bound injured soldiers, who were recently attacked by gunmen while on a transit at Aboba along Okene – Lokoja road.
Capt. Idris Wada, the Kogi State Governor stated this today when he paid a visit to the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja, where eight of the injured soldiers are still receiving treatment.
The State Governor lamented a situation where a group of soldiers who were on transit,in service of their father land would be attacked,frowned at the action describing it as unwarranted.
Represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, stated that the incident that led to the death of two soldiers in the attack was unfortunate, said the State Government commiserate with families of those that lost their lives in the attack.
The State Governor described the State as very peaceful, appreciated the role of the Nigerian Army whom he noted have always contributed admirably in maintaining peace in the State.
Capt. Idris Wada, commended the quick response of the officials of Federal Medical Centre, urged that the medical bills of the treated soldiers be forwarded to his office.
In his remarks, the Chief Medical Director, Federal Medical Centre Lokoja, Dr. Eleshin Gbadebo, said the attacked Army Officers were rushed in with various degrees of injuries, but are now in stable condition.
Also speaking the Team Leader of the traveling soldiers, Col. A. A. Adeniyi, commended the efforts of the State Government in offsetting the Medical bills, and said they are waiting for Army headquarters directive on the discharge of the officers.
