Kogi Govt Talks Tough as Violent Cult Clash Claims Two Lives, Properties in Lokoja Suburb, Kabawa

Following the resurgence of clashes of rival cult groups in Lokoja, Kogi state government has directed security agencies to fish out the members of cult who clashed at Kabawa area of the local government on Monday evening and early Tuesday morning.

The attack has left two dead, while some houses, tricycles and vehicles were set ablaze.

The State Security Adviser, Jerry Omodara led security agencies to the scene of the attack to restore peace to the troubled community.

According to Omodara, cultism will not be tolerated by the present administration in the state, as government will do everything humanly possible to maintain the existing peace in the state.

He said the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello has mandated security agencies to ensure the arrest of those involved in the cult clash.

The State Security Adviser maintained that hiding under the guise of cult rivalry to attack innocent persons and looting of property will not be accepted as anyone caught will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

Omodara urged the people of Lokoja not to panic and go about their legitimate business as security agencies comprising the Army, Navy, Police, DSS and local vigilante groups have been deployed to Kabawa to maintain peace.

However, the Police has confirmed arrest of some of the perpetrators.
