Kogi State Government has reiterated it’s resolve in equipping and ensuring that the traditional institutions effectively carry out their role of maintaining peace in their domain.
Kogi State Governor, Capt Idris Wada, stated this at the 85 years birthday and 40 years on the throne of Kabiyesi, Oba (Dr) A. A. Ikuborije, the Agbana of Isanlu Land, held in Isanlu, Yagba East LGA.
The governor who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi described Dr Ikuborije as a thorough breed royal father, whose passion for the growth and development of his community knows no bounds.
Gov Wada, lauded the complimentary role the traditional institutions have played, as custodians of the people’s culture and tradition since the inception of his administration.
While promising his administration’s continuous support to the traditional institutions across the state, Capt Wada prayed God to continuously grant the royal father good health and wisdom as he reign over his subjects.
The governor promised to look into the request for palace renovation, vehicle and upgrading of chiefs under his domain as requested by Dr Ikuborije.
In a speech at the occasion, Barr Bola Fabola, SSA1, Yagba East LGA, praised the efforts of the royal father at maintaining peace, said his reign has brought development to people of the area, assured that the council will always partner with the royal father in moving the area forward.
Earlier in a welcome remarks, Ayo Friday, the national presidential of isanlu progressive union, described the royal father, as a man of rare privilege, whose reign has brought peace and development to the area, appealed to government at all levels to come to the aid of the area in terms of road construction, improved security situation of the area, as well as in the education and water sectors.
Other dignitaries who presented goodwill messages at the occasion, include Hon Hassan Salawu, former Chairman of PDP, said the area has witnessed tremendous development under the reign of Dr Ikuborije, commended him for his ability to galvanize the people to growth and development.
In a thank you message, Dr Ikuborije, thanked the people for their support in the years past, promised to dedicate his reign in pursuit of peace, unity and development of the people, and expressed appreciation to the government of kogi state and the kogi state traditional council for their support, appealed for the renovation of his palace, provision of an official vehicle and the upgrading of stools under his authority.
