The Kogi State government has warned education secretaries in the state against staying in the office without performing their functions, of monitoring and supervising primary schools within their domain.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Honourable Sunday Tolorunleke gave this warning to educational secretaries and other relevant stakeholders in education sector, during a maiden meeting between the newly appointed chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBERB), Mrs Deborah Oshatimehin.
The newly appointed SUBERB chairman enjoined various education secretaries to collaborate with their various council administrators, to achieve the desired goals for basic education in the state.
She implored them to be committed to their duties by ensuring that no school in their domain falls short of expectation.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology Mr Sunday Tolorunleke in his keynote address, while lamenting that in the past, the sector had been taken over by people who do not have business with the sector.
The Special Adviser on Multilateral Donor Agencies and Special Projects, Adoga Ibrahim pointed out that basic education can never function appropriately if the commission saddled with the responsibility of running the sector is very weak.
He enlightened them on the government’s plan to start the home grown feeding programme.
