Kogi State Government has renamed the state university in Anyigba after the late former Governor of the state, Prince Abubakar Audu.
Governor Yahaya Bello announced the renaming of the state university during the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial campaign in Anyigba on Saturday.
The University will now be referred to Prince Abubakar Audu University Anyigba (PAAU).
Bello, who took time to eulogize Prince Abubakar Audu, said the former governor was the pillar of development in Kogi State and as such, the state government have decided to honor him by renaming the state owned university to Prince Abubakar Audu University.
“In life we must give honor to whom honor is due, and as we continue to remember our late leader, the pillar of development in Kogi State, Prince Abubakar Audu, we have decided to immortalize him by renaming the state owned university after him.
“I sent a bill to the State House of Assembly to legally effect this change. Kogi State university will henceforth be known as Prince Abubakar Audu University,” he said.
Bello assured that the good deeds of the late political giant will never be forgotten.
