Flood displaced persons in Kogi State have been assured of government continuous support even as they return to their homes,with others still in the camps.
The Acting Secretary, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) Mrs Alice Ogedengbe, who represented the State Deputy Governor,Yomi Awoniyi, made the disclosure while delivering relief materials to victims of the flood in Idah and Bassa Local Government Areas of the State, in Lokoja today.
Mrs Ogedengbe assured the people, particularly the flood victims that the re-settlement programme for them is on course and is based on the principles of fairness, equity, justice and transparency.
The SEMA Boss maintained that communities will continue to receive succour from Government along with addressing the issue of damages done to their houses and farmlands.
The SEMA Boss commended Capt. Idris Wada, for the efforts at providing relief materials weeks after the flood have since receded.
In his remarks, Hon. Maigida Umar, Liaison Officer 1, Bassa Local Government Area who spoke on behalf of the two Local Government Areas, commended the responsiveness of Capt. Idris Wada, to the flood victims.
The Liaison Officer, assured that the items will be taken to the various flood affected villages and to their homes.
Items received by the Local Government Area’s in this week’s distribution included Bags of Rice, Mattresses, Blankets and other relief materials aimed at making those who returned to their homes comfortable.
