Governor of Kogi state, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, has expressed deep condolences to the Obaro of Kabba and Chairman Okun Area Traditional Council, His Royal Majesty, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi, over the passing of His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Ibinaye, the Obajemu of Owe Kingdom.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Joel Salifu, during a condolence visit to Kabba on Saturday, Governor Ododo described the late monarch as a man of peace whose wisdom and leadership will be greatly missed by Kabba, Owe Kingdom, and Kogi State.
He assured the Obaro and the people of Kabba of the State Government’s support towards a peaceful and befitting burial for the late traditional ruler.
Governor Ododo prayed for the peaceful repose of the late monarch’s soul.
The State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara rtd, described the late Obajemu as a dependable voice of peace who was often consulted on matters concerning the kingdom.
In his response, the Obaro of Kabba appreciated the Governor for the visit and commended the government’s efforts in maintaining peace and improving security, noting that residents can now sleep peacefully. He also reaffirmed the kingdom’s support for the administration and appealed for the refurbishment of hospitals and action against illegal medical practitioners in the area.
The Deputy Governor was accompanied by top government officials including Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd), State Security Adviser; Evangelist Kingsley Femi Fanwo, Commissioner for Information and Communication; Hon. Wemi Jones, Commissioner for Education; Engr. Yahaya Farouk, Commissioner for Water Resources; Sheikh Sani Momoh Musa, SSA to the Governor on Ethics and Values, and Comrade Abdullahi Tijani Oricha, state coordinator for AGILE Project, among others.
