The Kogi State Government has once again commended the National Emergency Management Agency for its continued support to flood victims in the State.
The commendation followed the special presentation of another round of relief materials made to the state for victims affected by the recent flood.
The State Governor, Capt. Idris Wada described the present donation from NEMA for affected communities of the state at Government House Lokoja as a gesture worthy of commendation.
Capt. Idris Wada who was represented by his Deputy, Yomi Awoniyi said the State Government is overwhelmed by the continued assistance to the displaced persons in the State.
He assured that the materials would be adequately delivered to the rightfully displaced persons to alleviate their sufferings.
The Governor assured that his administration would continue to render selfless services to those affected by the flood and pledged his commitment to distribute all donations received to those really affected.
Earlier, the NEMA Assistant Director of Disaster Risk Reduction, Mallam Hassan Danjuma Aliyu said the agency would not relent in its duty in assist those affected by the flood across the affected states in the Federation.
Mallam Hassan pledged the Federal Government continued support to reducing the sufferings of the people.
Speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Disaster Management Agency, Air Vice-Marshal Gabriel Abdul (Rtd), commended NEMA for the package and promised government readiness to deliver the materials to the affected displaced persons in the State.
Receiving the materials, Bassa Nge community one of the benefiting communities led by Bako Mohammed, Secretary, Bassa Development Association,thanked the State and NEMA representatives for their support and corporation to those who were displaced during the flood that ravaged the State.
Items received include bags of rice, mattresses, bundles of zinc, and bags of millet, toiletries among others.
