The Kogi state Executive Council has approved the award of contract for the construction of four roads across the state at the total cost of N3billion naira.
The Kogi state Commissioner of Information, Alhaji Yabaji Bologi disclosed this while briefing newsmen.
The approved road construction are Otokiki-Ganaja By-Pass dual carriage road in Lokoja, awarded to Ceezahi construction company at the cost of N2billion naira with 18 months completion period while AjGumu-Ofomu-Oduogboyaga road in Dekina Local Government Area at the cost of N592 Million naira awarded to TEC Engineering construction company.
Other road projects include, Lion Club-Geregu road in Ajaokuta Local Government Area at the cost of N163 Million naira awarded to Zerock construction company and Ponyan-Irele Kogi/Ekiti boundary road at cost of over N146 Million naira awarded to Weinbandt Nigeria Limited with a duration of four months to complete.
He said the road development will reduce traffic jams in Lokoja the state capital and boost transportation at the grass root level saying that the state had currently grown from consolidation level of development to that of total transformation of the state.
The Commissioner also mentioned that the council approved contract for the purchase of twelve 32 seater buses for intracity transportation within the state at the cost of N110 Million naira, stressing that the remaining two years of Captain Idris Wada’s administration will witness massive and tremendous development that would impact positively on the lives of the people .
