Kogi Gov’ship: The Worst is Inevitable

Believing that Governor Yahaya Bello will be ousted easily going by the current deficiencies is a joke, just as insinuating that Kogites may get it right soon could be a day-light dream. This is because, the veracity of poverty and greed is throat soaking. To the elites and those in the position of authority, greed defines all, and to the ordinary citizens, the gravity of poverty is so effecting that a good leader is viewed as one with money to fritter. Consequently, a better Kogi’s prospect is been analyzed in difference form, language and understanding- each so ruthless to defend own motive.

Unfortunately, the frantic elements who have killed humanity (morally and psychologically) in the time past now see this as a medium to sabotage the unity of the people, so as to continue looting our common patrimony.

To my greatest dismay, some custodians of our culture and tradition were selected and shipped to Abuja just to convey Yahaya Bello’s rapacious quests to Buhari. The same way Kogi East Elders Council members were bankrolled and the responsibility they were saddled with to independently present a credible candidate for the forthcoming election was traded.

For heaven’s sake, when did our traditional rulers became this politically loyal? How were they registered into politicking business that the sacredness of our tradition no longer matters as their daily business? And how did Bello’s invidious tactics became this devastating that the supremacy of our tradition has to suffer for his desperate hunts?

The last time I checked, traditional Monarchs are supposed to be neutral in any political affairs, and even if they have to support any candidate, it must conform to the demands of the people for whom both Tradition and political offices were made. But on the contrary, the existing monarchs are at the whims and caprices of a tyrant whose year in office has plunged Kogi state abyss. Could this be an upshot of a scorching heat of poverty? I don’t think so. But for those who felt that it is poverty, let me put a reminder that traditional rulers are meant to be upright against all odds even as their appointment is mostly by divine providence. Hence, the action of these monarchs is an evident that greed is grandstanding in the dome of royalty. They have bastardized our traditions, norms and values. The integrity of our culture which our ancestors died to sustain had been enmeshed. As a matter of fact, royalty had been dragged to the pit.

At worst everyone can embark on the shameless trip but certainly not the ATTA OF IGALA. Why? As a father, the sensitivity and influence of his position over others is too significant to be yielded to Bello’s disdain. But up till now, I can’t believe he was part of the concocted mission. In fact, it was the happiest moment of his life judging from his reactions in that video.

Has Attah not realized that Bello lacks respect for the throne of our ancestors? Isn’t this a clear sign that the dignity of royalty has at most, a secondary place in Bello’s political deeds?

For posterity sake, the current occupiers of our forefathers’ seat (including Dr. Michael Ameh) no longer merit it. The throne had been defiled and the gods are angry. They should vacate that seat with immediate effect since the business of protecting their subjects is no more a priority.

I don’t know why we seems divided against the truth, each outlining it with self-interest. Governance has never been this worst in the history of Kogi state, even Bello gallivanting for second term has nothing to consolidate on. Yet, some hooligans will kill their biological fathers to ensure that he returns. Are we cursed or could this be the outright effects non civilization? Perhaps, the predominant notion about northerners by other Nigerians. Each time I look around the world and how leaders transform their society into paradise even with scanty resources, the paradigm here is disgusting. That we cannot unit against saboteurs is outrageous.

I learnt several billions of Naira was frittered on the concocted excursion and our traditional rulers were handed fat envelopes. This is how they have reduced themselves to nothing, and this is how the destinies of the unborn generation is been swallowed in broad daylight.

Fellow Kogites, no one should even think that we have elders who protects our interest. Instead, we can only hope and pray that the good ones emerge soon. Because, the ones acting as elders are selfish minded individual whose progressive ideology best defines me-myself-and-I syndrome.

The just concluded screening exercise conducted by Kogi East Elders council had even disappointed me the more. Look at the events that trailed the exercise, especially, how aspirants bankrolled the bank account of the elders involved and its aftermath, those they endorsed for the governorship elections are not actually the competent hands but the highest bidders who either has impending cases with EFCC for financial misappropriation or have not pay their employees for months. In fact, if you must talk about them (the endorsed aspirants), you will have to sign your dead warrant because their watchdogs will come after you should you dare affiliate their names with corrupt related articles.

Well, let me sound this to the ears of those hunting me over my recent article- JUBRIL LACKS THE WHEREWITHAL, I have signed mine, so whether or not you like it, the bitter truth must be told regardless of whose ox is gored. Besides, corruption is an arch-enemy of any society, its endemic is a generational disaster. I will not allow it in my dearest Kogi state, not when I am breeding a generation that will continue my name. However, I am not against his governorship aspiration but he who comes to equity must come with clean hands- that is my take.

Back to the central thrust, the opposition party PDP is also playing prank over the non-negotiable task. It recently asked over 40 aspirants on its platform to pay a whooping N75 million for nomination form. The party stakeholders until this moment had not announced to us the contract they hope to execute with the money perhaps. But as far as I’m concerned, this is an impunity taken too far, in short PDP is playing god. I don’t want to go into Ibro’s quests to establish a political dynasty in the state and how he has turned the deputy governorship slot into money making machine as if his son will be elected unopposed. I don’t want to sip into how his son had boasted that whoever does not have up to N3 billion Naira in his account should shed any ambition to contest in governorship race as if they have not looted our common patrimony. But in the fullness of time things will begin to activate itself even as we wait for credible persons to join the populace of the aspirants.

Moreover, I am happy the National stakeholders of the party had ordered a fresh election of the party’s stakeholders in the state. It has also announced to the world that nomination form had been increased from N5 million to N10 million for logistic reasons. We will settle for this even though I am of the opinion that nomination forms should be zero cost. We will kick against anything contrary or an act of extortion by traders of our common goals.

For now, the worst is inevitable. With Bello’s chance of returning as governor expanding daily by politicians’ undemocratic act, and the hovering possibilities of electing another incompetent hands, Kogites should bear in mind that doom days lies ahead barring the last minute change. It’s not possible to monetize every affairs and expect a free services in return. No buyer/seller want to lose.

God bless Kogi state.
