Ododo School to School Campaign Organization (OSSC) steering committee has launched the distribution of thousands of free exercise books to public schools and colleges in Kogi state.
The second phase ceremony took place at the Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja on Thursday during the official flag-off of grassroots sensitization for Alh Ododo Ahmed Usman, the governorship candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Convener, Comrade Abduljelil Umar Adabara assured that the books would get to every pupil/student and reiterated that quality education, welfare of the teachers and students remained one of the top priorities of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello led administration.
“Come January 2024, His Excellency Alh. Ododo Ahmed Usman government would continue to provide necessary logistics to promote education across the state,” he said.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones, in a remark said education was key to success and noted that Governor Bello’s administration had achieved a lot at all levels of education.
Hon. Jones desclosed that the November governorship election would not be about politics of violence but of issues, reason why the outstanding achievements of Alhaji Ododo should be the weapon for campaign.
He described Ododo as best fit for Kogi in this time.
The Ministry of Education, Hon. Jones explained, came up with school adoption and mentorship program, with Alhaji Ododo as the greatest supporter, said he printed physics and chemistry textbooks books worth millions of Naira and distributed to all secondary schools in the state
Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon. Abdulmumin Danga urged the students to reciprocate government’s huge investment in education by studying hard to excel to attract more interventions.
The Executive Chairman, The Kogi State Science, Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission (STETSCOM), Mrs Cecilia Cook said Governor Yahaya Bello’s intervention in the education sector was unparalleled and had made great impact in teaching and learning in all schools in the state.
Cook commended efforts of the Governor towards successful implementation of various programme, as well as improving the quality of education in the state through personal visits to schools, procuring and distribution of educational materials and employment of staffs
She assured the students that if voted Alh. Ododo Ahmed Usman, he would compliment and consolidate the efforts of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello as government of continuity
Rector Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo expressed gratitude to the Governor for his remarkable achievements, which he noted had not been rivaled in the country.
He commended the efforts of the Governor on education, which, he noted, had earned the state various interventions.
According to him, his support for Ododo is beyond partisanship and politics.
“Ododo Ahmed Usman is the next Kogi’s Governor by Allah will. Power comes only from God,” he said.
He urge the students to vote for Ododo come November 11.
