The Kogi State chapter of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has said there is no division in the party while expressing optimism that all stakeholders and members of the party will accept the verdict of the court on its authentic flagbearer ahead of the November 11, 2023 governorship poll.
Briefing newsmen in Lokoja yesterday, the state secretary of the party, Alhaji Musa Audu DanKano expressed optimism and confidence that the party would be on the ballot in the November Governorship election, especially as an Abuja High Court had delivered judgment on the rightful owner of the ticket.
Insisting that the NNPP in Kogi State was not factionalised, the party scribe said, “a political party is the creation of the law and what makes a political party have the right to even claim it is a political party is its constitution and the grand law which is the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. No legally created organ can be given the wherewithal to act as if it doesn’t know that it is a creation of the law.
“So, as it concerns our flag bearer, you are well aware that the High Court has given its judgment and its expected that everybody will align as loyal member.
“I actually don’t think we are divided, to be fair. I appeal to Dr. Mubarak Musa and others to accept the judgment in good faith and work for the success of our great party in the November election.”
DanKano said the state Excos are strongly behind Hon. Hassan Baiwa as the flag bearer to deliver victory for the party in the November election.
He noted that the party is going to run an issue base campaign ahead of the governorship election, adding that the party is going to constitute a reconciliation committee and bring every member on board to start early mobilization for the election.
He appeal to all those who have left the party in the past to return back and join the governorship campaign.
While reteirating the commitment of the state Exco to win the next election, the secretary appealed to the governorship candidate, Hon. Hassan Baiwa to carry everyone along in the interest of the party and the state.
