A support group, Muri Ambassadors Network (MAN), has flagged off its state-wide grassroot mobilization campaign for the candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the November Kogi governorship election, Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka.
Addressing hundreds of SDP supporters at the inauguration of MAN in Lokoja on Saturday, President of the support group, Amb. Obaje Hassan Mustapha, said Murtala Ajaka will redeem and transform Kogi to the delight of its citizens.
He lamented that Kogi, as a matter of facts, now ranks among the bottom states in Nigeria.
“The recent reports by the Nigeria Bureau of Statistic suggests that our situation is even worse as we now rank among the most expensive state to live-in Nigeria, even with our current unfortunate predicament. The leadership in the last 8 years has left the good people of Kogi State more or less begging for survival. It has never been this bad.
“How does a State that was once rated so high between 1999 and 2003 become this bad in 2023? What make the difference? The answer is simple. Leadership! And that is why we have all gathered here today, taking the first of many steps towards ending the reign bad leadership in Kogi State come November 11,2023.
“I stand before you today, inspired not only by troubles, and the unhappiness we’ve been forced to endure over the past few years, but also by the roles that good governance can play in changing our collective destiny, when we dare to ask for it,” he said.
Obaje described the SDP governorship candidate as a phenomenal young man who has been inspiring a lot of young people across Kogi State, adding that Murtala Ajaka’s rise to fame has taught many the very importance of humility, integrity and compassion.
“Extraordinary times require extraordinary measures; therefore Kogi needs to choose an extraordinary candidate that possesses extraordinary gift of leadership and character.
“The person must be competent enough to match the extraordinary demands of the good people of Kogi.
“That person is Ajaka of the SDP, a phenomenal young man who has been inspiring a lot of young people across Kogi.
“Ajaka is a man known for his track record of philanthropy and outstanding leadership qualities, and has contributed immensely to the growth and development of the less-privileged.
“Ajaka’s genuine love for peaceful coexistence between the people of Kogi makes us readily want to be like him.
“I am proud, on behalf of this network to endorse Ajaka as Kogi governor as he is an embodiment of empathy and hope.
“His exemplary rise to fame has taught us the importance of humility, integrity and compassion that have endeared him to God,’’ Obaje added.
