The news of Mrs Rashida Bello, the First Lady’s birthday celebration at the orphanage got many well wishers out to celebrate with her in the Agassa area of Okene Local Government, her husband’s hometown.
The journey to Ideal Orphanage started with a homage to the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Dr. Ado Ibrahim, where she got the company of the wife of the monarch to the celebration ground.
She was also at Darul-Arqam Widows & Orphanage home owned by the Okene popular Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Luqman Bin Imam. Not left out are expectant mothers at the Okene General Hospital.
While distributing gifts to orphans, Rashidat gave them hope and pledged to be a mother to the motherless in Kogi State.
As part of the of the activities marking her birthday, Mrs Rashida Bello alleviated the suffering and put smile on the faces of the women, the Governor’s wife presented the women with basic Ante-Natal Clinics (ANC) needs such as clothing materials, delivery packs to women in the General Hospital okene.
Mrs. Bello told the women at Okene General Hospital, that she is always touched by things concerning the welfare of children and women, hence she had to intervene through the Kogi Women and Youth Empowerment Foundation (KOWYEF). She explained that gift of the delivery bed for care of women in labour is one way of making sure that mother and child are protected at birth. She further said that KOWYEF would make suggestions, and contribute to ensuring that such beds become the minimum standard for most centres in the state.
Commending her goodwill, the Chief Imam of Ebiraland, Sheikh Musa Abdullah Galadima who also graced the event, prayed for the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello and his cabinet.
