The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) yesterday applied to the state Election Petition Tribunal through its governorship candidate, Prince Abubakar Audu, to be allowed to inspect electoral materials used in the December 3, 2011 governorship election in Kogi State.
The petitioners sued the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over alleged electoral malpractices during the poll.
ACN urged the tribunal to restore its mandate, insisting that it won the election.
Counsel to the petitioner, Chief Charles Edosonwan (SAN), said the party wants to ensure that the matter is concluded on time to avoid a waste of time.
But counsel to the PDP, Umoru Mohammed, said the respondents intend to exhaust the time allotted them by law to respond to the motion.
