The speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Honourable Abdullahi Bello, has formally resumed his duties as Speaker of the House.

It will be recalled that the Speaker was sworn in as acting governor following directives from federal government before the leadership of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ordered him to vacate the seat for Captain Idris Wada.

Bello, on resumption, assured the general public that all members of the legislative arm have agreed to return to status quo, before the apex court’s verdict that led to the removal of five governors.

The Speaker, while commending members of the state lawmakers for upholding principles of rule of law during the double-governor saga, said the decision to return to status quo was borne out of the need to douse tension.

He described as untrue, the rumours making the rounds that he had dragged the state governor, Captain Idris Wada to court for parading himself as the chief executive of the state.
