Kogi State Governorship aspirant under the platform of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr. Idris Omede has hailed the emergence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as the presidential candidate of the party for the 2019 general elections.
Speaking with newsmen after the primary election, Omede called on the leadership of PDP to quickly resolve and reconcile the skirmishes and challenges arising from recent nationwide primaries into the various elective state and national offices.
Omede, a past President Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) and former Commissioner of Health in Kogi state, appealed to all aspirants that contested in the various primaries of the party to team up with PDP supporters and loyalists to deliver the candidates that have emerged in the 2019 general elections.
“On behalf of Believe 2019 Movement, We thank Allah for the People Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential primary victory of His Excellency, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, former Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, in the just concluded PDP Presidential Primaries in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. Insha Allah, this heralds into the next phase of the campaign, General Election and electoral victory, come February 2019.
“As we celebrate this victory, our party PDP needs to quickly resolve and reconcile the skirmishes and challenges arising from recent nationwide primaries into the various elective state and national offices. It is our prayers and wishes that the campaign that would start almost immediately, will usher in Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, GCON, as the elected President of Federal Republic of Nigeria on 16th February 2019, by the Grace of God.
“Let us work hard with commitment and purposefulness to enthrone good leadership, good governance, ensure people welfare, better security of lives and property, job creation, restructure and infrastructure development.
“To all that have participated in the PDP Primaries at various levels, you are all winners. Undauntedly, you went into the ring on with the conviction that it would be only one person at a time, put this conviction into practice by your positive disposition to the outcome and active participation and involvement in the campaign that follows.
“Make the PDP greater, enshrine decent democracy, team up with your supporters and loyalists to deliver the candidates that have emerged. Be part of the campaign and ensure PDP electoral victory in the 2019 General elections into State Houses of Assembly, House of Representative, Senate and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Surely you can do it, you have done it before and can still it. Together we can make it happen,” he said.
The immediate past President, Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN) assured Nigerians that Atiku presidency will usher in a new vista of hope that will culminate in economic boom, job creation, security and massive infrastructural development across the nation.
