Kogi Governor Approves N316m as Bursary Award for 8750 Students

Governor Usman Ododo has approved the sum of N316 million for disbursement as bursary to 8,750 undergraduate students of Kogi state descent who have been successfully cleared.

The state’s Commissioner for Education, Mr Wemi Jones, disclosed at a press conference on Friday in Lokoja.

Jones said that out of over 40,000 undergraduate students that applied online for the 2024 bursary award, only 8,750 have completely uploaded the required documents and had been verified.

He explained further that out of the 8,750 students, 8,549 would get N30,000 each totaling 256 million naira, while the remaining 201 who are law school students would receive N300,000 each totaling N60.3 million.

The commissioner assured that the beneficiaries would start getting alert within the next two weeks.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the present administration under Gov. Ododo’s leadership to continue to prioritize education and reduce the number of out of school children to the barest minimum in the state.

In his remarks, the Executive Chairman, Kogi State Scholarship Board (KSSB), Mr. Afolabi Joseph-Raji, commended the governor for his commitment to education development in the state through various scholarship awards.

He reiterated the state government’s commitment through the board to ensure that every Kogi student attains academic success and become responsible.
